A national petition with 30,270 supporters is calling on Parliament’s Joint Committee on Constitutional Review to consider amendments to the 1996 Constitution.

The petition proposes 5 key areas of reform:
1.Safety and Justice Stricter consequences for heinous crimes
2.Accountable Governance – Direct election of the President and enforceable public petitions
3.Citizen-First Policy – Prioritizing citizens in housing, healthcare, education, and jobs
4.Economic Justice – National ownership of resources and job creation support
5.Electoral Reform – Hybrid voting system and independent appointments

The organizers say the goal is to make the Constitution clearer, enforceable, and centred on citizens.

The petition is being submitted as part of public input to Parliament.
